The Short Answer
A PIP mobility award is worth more than the weekly payment. GOV.UK lists a Blue Badge, a vehicle tax discount or exemption, and the Motability Scheme for the higher rate. Either rate qualifies for a Disabled Persons Railcard. None of it is automatic — each has its own application — and the enhanced rate opens considerably more than the standard rate.
What Each Rate Opens
The gap between the two mobility rates is wider than the £49.70 a week suggests. Before ordering a car, check motability rules on mileage, drivers and the condition of the car at hand-back.

GOV.UK sets out the vehicle and travel entitlements in its financial help guidance, and lists the Motability Scheme as available "if you get the higher mobility rate of PIP".
What Else Can You Claim on Standard Rate PIP?
A railcard, half-price vehicle tax on the mobility part, and carer support on the daily living part. The Disabled Persons Railcard is open to anyone who gets "Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Adult Disability Payment (ADP) at any rate", and GOV.UK gives a 50% vehicle tax reduction for the "PIP standard rate mobility component". For Carer's Allowance, GOV.UK lists "Personal Independence Payment - daily living component" and states: "You need to spend at least 35 hours a week caring for someone."

The Motability Scheme is the one transport entitlement the standard rate does not reach. Motability requires the enhanced rate of the PIP mobility part with at least 12 months of the award left.
What Do People Mean by PIP Freebies?
There is no official list of PIP freebies: each concession is a separate scheme that accepts a PIP award as proof. None of them is paid by the DWP, and the DWP does not tell any of them about an award.

The railcard gives a third off rail fares for the holder and one adult companion. The Blue Badge fee is up to £10 in England, £20 with most councils in Scotland, and free in Wales, according to GOV.UK and mygov.scot.
Does PIP Entitle You to Free Dental Treatment?
Not by itself in England: PIP is not among the benefits the NHS names for free NHS dental treatment. The NHS states: "You can also get free NHS dental treatment if you or your partner receive certain benefits including:" and lists income-related Employment and Support Allowance, the part of Pension Credit that tops up weekly income, and Universal Credit "but only if your income is below a certain amount".

A PIP award can still sit alongside one of those benefits, and where it does, that benefit is the route to free treatment. The NHS also accepts a valid HC2 certificate, issued under the NHS Low Income Scheme, as a route in its own right. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland run their own dental charging rules.
Motability
The whole enhanced mobility allowance exchanged for a leased vehicle. Insurance, servicing and breakdown cover are included, and up to three drivers can be added. Most of these concessions ask for evidence of your award, which a GOV.UK proof of benefit letter provides.
It requires the enhanced rate with at least 12 months of award remaining. The full terms are on Motability, and the quarterly Advance Payment bands are on Motability Car List.
Vehicle Tax
A full exemption on the enhanced rate, a 50% reduction on the standard rate. It applies to one vehicle at a time, and the vehicle must be used by or for the person receiving the allowance.

Blue Badge
Not decided by the rate, but by the descriptors. A Blue Badge can follow automatically from particular scores rather than from the award level, which is why someone on the standard rate may qualify and someone on the enhanced rate may not.
Scoring 8 points or more on moving around qualifies automatically in every UK nation, while the planning and following journeys route differs between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The position is set out on Blue Badge With PIP.
Beyond Transport
A PIP award also affects other people's benefits and other household costs. A carer providing at least 35 hours of care a week for someone on either rate of the daily living part may qualify for a carer's element in Universal Credit.
Council Tax and local bus travel discounts are administered by local councils rather than the DWP, and GOV.UK directs claimants to contact their council to check. Those and the premiums that a PIP award can add are on Extra Money With PIP.
Nothing Here Is Automatic
Every entitlement on this page needs its own application. The DWP does not notify Motability, the DVLA, your council or the railcard scheme when an award is made.
That is the single most common way money is left unclaimed after a successful PIP decision. Working through the list once, when the decision letter arrives, is a job of an afternoon.
