The Short Answer

The Motability car list is priced in Advance Payment bands and refreshes every three months. The weekly cost is fixed for every vehicle: the enhanced PIP mobility rate, £80.00 a week, exchanged in full. What varies between cars is the one-off Advance Payment, which runs from nil to several thousand pounds. The current list runs until the next one is released on 1 October 2026.

What Actually Varies Between Cars

Not the weekly cost — only the Advance Payment. Every vehicle on the Scheme costs the same each week, because the whole enhanced mobility allowance is exchanged. At 2026/27 rates that is £80.00 a week, or £320.00 every four weeks, paid to Motability instead of into your account.

The Advance Payment is the one-off sum at the start of the lease that covers the difference between what the allowance funds and what the vehicle costs. It is the only number that distinguishes one car from another financially.

The Advance Payment Bands

Motability groups the list into bands, and prices sit across the whole range. The bands below are the ones the Scheme's own search filters use, with observed prices from the current list.

BandWhat it coversObserved in the current list
Nil Advance PaymentThe allowance covers the whole leaseSeveral models at £0

Those figures are a snapshot of one quarter's list, taken on the date stamped above. They show the shape of the pricing rather than the price of any particular car, and they will move at the next release.

The Quarterly Refresh

Motability states that the Scheme price list is updated every three months. The next price list is released on 1 October 2026.

That cycle is why this page carries bands rather than a car-by-car table. A list of individual models and prices would be wrong within weeks of publication, and a wrong price on a page like this costs someone a wasted trip to a dealership. For a specific model, check the Scheme's own search on the day you are choosing.

The practical consequence for anyone deciding: a car that needs a large Advance Payment this quarter may need a smaller one next quarter, and the reverse is equally true. Where the payment is the obstacle rather than the eligibility, waiting for the next list is a real option.

What the Weekly Cost Includes

More than the vehicle. Motability states that the lease covers insurance, arranged by the Scheme with up to three drivers added, servicing and routine repairs, and breakdown cover.

Mileage allowances apply and depend on the lease length and the date the order was placed. The Scheme publishes the current allowance alongside each vehicle, and it is worth checking before ordering rather than assuming a figure.

What the lease does not include is fuel or charging, and the position on charging equipment for an electric car depends on the arrangement offered at the time.

Who Can Use the List

Anyone with a qualifying mobility allowance at the enhanced rate and at least 12 months of award left. Motability states the requirement as "a qualifying mobility allowance with at least 12 months left and have a valid UK driving licence".

The driver does not have to be the person receiving the allowance. Up to three drivers can be added to the insurance, which is what makes the Scheme workable for people who do not drive themselves.

An award with less than a year to run does not qualify, which is worth knowing before a review. Where a review is due, the sequence matters: the new award length is what the Scheme will look at.

Before You Choose

Eligibility, the exchange mechanism and what happens at the end of a lease are set out on the Motability scheme page. The Advance Payment is the number to compare between cars; the weekly cost is the same whichever you pick.
